Donald Louis Karpisek was born on April 22, 1957, in David City, Nebraska to Frank and Wayva (Hermsen) Karpisek and passed away on September 25, 2024, in David City, Nebraska at the age of 67 years, 5 months, and 5 days. Don grew up in Ulysses where he attended Ulysses grade school. He then went on to Seward Junior and Senior High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1975. After high school, Don helped his dad with his seed business, until his passing in 1981. On April 26, 1986, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Hilger and to this union, four daughters were born. Boomer farmed the family farm for many years and sold Producers and Moews corn and soybean seed. He drove a school bus for the David City Public School, Aquinas High School, and East Butler High School for 17 years. Boomer loved playing fast-pitch softball for Ulysses, as a pitcher. He was an avid Husker football and volleyball fan and loved attending the College World Series, complete with fresh popcorn. Boomer enjoyed going to coffee at C-K Katering with the coffee crew. He was known for loving Christmas and polka music. Boomer found great joy in attending auctions and Husker Harvest Days. He loved traveling to places including the Iowa State Fair and South Dakota, visiting the Black Hills, The Corn Palace, and Sioux Falls. Boomer treasured visits to the camper on the river, where they would watch football and enjoy nature. His favorite place in the world was at home with his girls and dogs. His greatest joy was his wife and daughters, they were his life. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a former member of the Ulysses Volunteer Fire Department. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Clara Karpisek and Francis and Darlene Karpisek; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Glen Sanley; brother-in-law, Richard Williams.
