John was my 2nd cousin through his Father, John Joseph Thomas. John Clark Thomas, age 89, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2008 in Holladay, Utah. He was born on Wednesday, July 31, 1918 in Paradise, Utah to John Joseph and Ada Luella Jensen Thomas. He was married to Lillymae Wilkin on October 26, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later sealed on June 21, 1965 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mae passed away on September 8, 1991. They were married 56 years. Clark was in the Army during World War II honorably serving in the Philippines. After the war he was part of the Army of Occupation in Japan. He returned from the war to his wife and two daughters and started his own business as a Painting and Paperhanging Contractor. He had many faithful customers who appreciated him for his honesty and skill. Clark enjoyed fishing and we enjoyed many family fishing trips. He was also a long time bowler, starting as a pin setter in his teens. As he grew older, he enjoyed bowling in tournaments with his friends. He was still bowling at age 86. Clark was known for his kind and gentle nature. After Mae passed away, he lovingly cared for his youngest daughter, Barbara during her long illness. The last two years while he has been ill himself, he was appreciative of any service given him, always being sure to say "thank you". He was survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Evron) Knorr; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters; one son, John Richard; two daughters, Colleen Schilling and Barbara Munson; two grandsons. Funeral Services were held on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Holbrook Mortuary located at 3251 South 2300 East in East Millcreek, Utah. Family and Friends attended a Viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 AM prior to Services. John was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Elysian Burial Gardens in East Millcreek, Utah. REST IN ETERNAL PEACE JOHN.
