THE PARIS NEWS, Wed., Nov. 9, 1994, p.16A. 'Essie Viola Strickland, 94, of Paris Nursing Home died there Tuesday, Nov. 8, 1994. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Randall Scott officiating. Mrs. Strickland was born Aug. 23, 1900, in Paris, a daughter of Henry and Viola Sudduth Davis. She graduated from Paris High School and attended beauty school. She married Joel S. Strickland March 1, 1930. He died Dec. 19, 1963. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. She was a member of the Paris Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by her guardian, Millie McDonald of Paris.' Buried near Joel Strickland and Lelia Strickland Olsen
