Jerry John Salik, 96, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 16,2024. Jerry was born in Ennis, Texas on January 8, 1928 to Frank Salik and Mary Marusak Salik. He grew up in Ennis and on May 16, 1953 he married his sweetheart, Cecilia Honza. They made their home together in Ennis for seventy years. Jerry was a devoted Roman Catholic husband, brother, uncle and friend. He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, KJT and Catholic Workman. Jerry worked for Southern Auto for 38 years, where he was known for his expert knowledge of parts and his love of breaking down and repairing any type of machinery. After Jerry's retirement he worked for Garden Gate Florist, delivering flowers. Everyone who knew Jerry loved his smile. Jerry loved sitting and having conversation and he made everyone around him feel welcome. Jerry is survived by his wife Cecilia and sister-in-laws Betty Honza, Georgia Salik and Clara Salik along with nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary Salik, and by his brothers Frank Salik, Jr., Wesley Salik and Daniel Salik. Cecilia wishes to extend her deepest gratitude to their devoted church family, friends and relatives. She especially thanks her neighbors who have spent countless hours helping and supporting them during Jerry's illness.
