Martin "Marty" Kelley, 72, of Elm Creek, Nebraska formerly of Sargent passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Colonial Villa in Alma, Nebraska. Martin John was born June 12, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska to Richard William and Emily Elizabeth (Weverka) Kelley. He spent his childhood in Sargent, Merna and Broken Bow, receiving his education in Sargent. Following high school he attended Grand Island School of Business. Martin made his home in Sargent, Grand Island, Lexington and Elm Creek. He spent his working years in agriculture parts. He was employed at John Deere and Case IH in sales and management and was exceptional in working with numbers and in customer service. He spent much of his adult life residing in Lexington where he enjoyed working outside, raising small livestock and repairing vehicles and equipment. Martin will be remembered as a compassionate man who was not afraid to speak his mind and always showed a strong conviction to his beliefs. Martin was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and camping. Antique shopping and collecting, classic cars and Louis Lamour novels were some of his favorite hobbies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids. Survivors include his mother, Emily Kelley of Sargent; three sons and daughters-in-law, Craig M. and Ashley Kelley of Kearney, Randall J. and Deanna Kelley of Lincoln and Nicholas J. and Melissa Kelley of Hastings; a daughter, Amanda R. Kelley of Lexington; his significant other, Julie L. Nickel of Elm Creek; a daughter-in-law, Abbie (Behnk) Rolf of St. Paul; twenty-nine grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Annette and Tim Sierks of Brewster, Sharon and Ed Sherbeck of Taylor and Marilyn and Todd Grant of Ansley. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard W. Kelley; his son, Russell W. Kelley; uncle, Donald Kelley; sister, Maureen A. Sartain, aunts, Catherine A. Kelley, Marie Brown and Suzanne Perkins; second cousin, Andrew Andersen; and cousin, Donald J. Kelley, Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sargent, Nebraska. Father James M. Hunt will be the Mass Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Church. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Geranium Cemetery west of Ord, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Family.
