B.L. Thurman, Retired Farmer, Claimed by Death B.L. Thurman, 80, retired Hopkins County farmer, died at his home, 915 Longino Street, Sulphur Springs, Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Thurman, who had lived in and around Sulphur Springs since coming to Hopkins County as a young man, was born February 11, 1873 in Arkansas. He was married in September 1896 to Miss Ida Becton Watson of the Beckham community. She died in 1945. Immediate survivors included five sons, Dan, Irving, W. A., Garland, and Marvin, Grady and Ray, all of Sulphur Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Coy Perkins, Tyler; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at First Methodist at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Bill Morgan Smith, pastor of Elmwood Methodist Church, Dallas, officiating. Dr. Darold Morgan, pastor of First Baptist Church, assisted. Interment was in City Cemetery. Nephews served as pall-bearers and Day and Day Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
