Bio

Charlie James Kirby, Jr., age 82, of Dallas, TX, passed away on June 22, 2024. He was born on November 5, 1941, to Charlie James and Ethel Mae Kirby. Charlie was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Dallas, where he exemplified a life of service and faith. His dedication shone through his 50 years of volunteer work, including roles as a Sunday School teacher, Children's Church Camp Advisor, and Minister of the Day. Charlie had a successful career as a Sales Engineer with Airstech. After retirement, he spent his time volunteering with Texas Baptist Men and at the Dallas Arboretum. Charlie's kindness and devotion to his faith touched many lives. He cherished his family and was beloved by all who knew him. His memory will be treasured, and his presence will be missed. Charlie graduated from North Dallas High School in 1961. He pursued his education at Decatur Baptist College and later earned his BBA from Baylor University in 1967. He was always a proud Baylor Bear! Charlie is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Kirby Schwartz, his son-in-law, Cody Schwartz, Grand Children: Kimberlyn Schwartz and Kirby Schwartz; nieces: Pamela Kirby Lytle, Lana Kirby Owens, and nephew: Christopher Kirby and John Clark; great-nieces: Jayme Lytle Figueroa, Madison Owens Billings, Mikayla Owens, and Lauren Kirby. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie and Ethel Mae Kirby; his sister: Dorothy Jane Kirby; and his brother: C. B. Kirby A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Nevada Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Tuesday July 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location. Charlie loved serving at church camp. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial gifts be made in his honor to the Children's Camp Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church of Dallas, located at 1707 San Jacinto Street, Dallas, TX 75201.
