Joe Beasley Obituary Joe Howard Beasley was born to Lillian Tucker and Lander Green Beasley in Winfield, Marion County, AL, and graduated from Winfield High School. He attended Itawamba Jr. College in Fulton, MS. and the University of Chattanooga in Tennessee on football scholarships until he was drafted into the Army in 1955. He was married for 70 years to Marlene Roberts whom he met at his father's 78 Roller Rink in Winfield. During his two years in the Army, they lived in Gatesville, Belton, and Copperas Cove, TX, while he was stationed at Ft. Hood. Joe was an employee of Commercial Credit Corporation from 1957 in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Knoxville before he was transferred to Huntsville as a manager in 1962. He grew the business from himself and one secretary to 13 employees before he left and became a State Farm agent on North Memorial Parkway in 1969. Marlene worked with him as a secretary at the State Farm office from 1973 until they retired in 1997. Their policyholders became like family to them as he insured successive generations and was able to see the children grow up to have their own families. Joe was an avid bass fisherman, active in both local bass clubs, where he made many lifelong friends, and was a lifetime member of the North Alabama Bass Club. He was a Christian and a member of Pleasant Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon until his health interfered. He loved his church family, but was confined to home for the past four years with Parkinson's disease and dementia where Marlene cared for him with the help of Compassus Hospice. Joe and Marlene had four children, Malissa Beasley Meadows, Joel Beasley, Belinda Beasley Lowe, and Melinda Beasley Langston (Bobby), three grandchildren, Sarah Meadows Newton (Richard), Rachel Beasley, and Ross Langston, and five great-grandchildren, Chloe Meadows, Karam, Sami, and Hana Marouane, and Mark Beasley. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his three older siblings, Emma Jean Beasley Miller, Mary Dean Beasley Hardin, and Harold Green Beasley, and their spouses, as well as his daughter, Belinda, grandson, Ross, and great-grandson, Mark. Special thanks to Compassus Hospice workers, Caelan, Sarah, Alicia, Whitney, Cassandra. Katie, Emily, Chaplain Steven, and others too numerous to mention. Visitation is Thursday, June 20th from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville, with the funeral to follow at 1:00. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens in Huntsville.
