Bio

Charles A. "Chuck" Zahirniak, 41, of West, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008, at his residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed. Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Chuck was born in Hillsboro, Texas, to Joseph Edward "Joe" and Dorothy Mae (Pavlas) Zahirniak. He attended West schools and graduated from West High School in 1985. Chuck was attending Texas State Technical College working for a degree in heating and air conditioning and was scheduled to graduate in Aug. 2008. He enjoyed hunting and especially loved to fish. Chuck was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Zahirniak; and sister, Connie Drews. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Zahirniak; brothers, Edward Zahirniak and wife, Sherry, and Bill Zahirniak; sisters, Donna Adair and husband, Dennis, and Mary Berger, all of West; his nieces and nephews, Dylan Berger, Renee Lynch, Amber Zahirniak, Zachary Zahirniak, Ronald Petter, Kimberly Epps, Andrea Hooker, Kristie Mason and Sherry Alligood; his great-nieces and nephews, Joey, Meagan, Amber, Kimberly, Olivia, Landon, Gain, Grayson, Coy, Riley, Ashley and Ty; his dog, Daisy; and many other relatives and friends.
