She married Delbert E. Shoemaker 6 May 1950 in Pascagoula, Miss. Survivors include daughters Cheryl Hobbs & Rene Myers, her father Howard Pettis, brother Wayne Pettis, sisters Christine Morrell, Laverne Boswell, Wanda Bush, Darlene Brock, Elaine Montplier & Minerva Harris, six grandchildren & one great grandchild. Rosie Mae Pettis Shoemaker 11 September 1931 - 02 February 1997 *** Rosie Shoemaker GALENA, Kan. — Rosie Mae Shoemaker, 65, 1017 Wall Ave., died at 4:32 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 1997, at McCune-Brooks Hospital Extended Care, Carthage, Mo., after 13 months of ill health. Mrs. Shoemaker was born Sept. 11, 1931, at Vernon, Fla. She moved to Galena in 1950. She was a physician’s assistant for Dr. Vinyard in Joplin. She married Delbert E. Shoemaker on May 6, 1950, at Pascagoula, Miss. He died Feb. 24, 1978. A daughter also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Hobbs, Pittsburg, and Rene Myers, Seneca, Mo.; her father, Howard Pettis, Chipley, Fla.; a brother, Wayne Pettis, Knoxville, Tenn.; six sisters, Christine Morrell and Laverne Boswell, both of Vernon, Wanda Bush, Chipley, Darlene Brock, Charleston, S.C., Elaine Montplier, Erwin, Tenn., and Minerva Harris, Eufaula, Ala.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Graveside services will be at 11a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery, north of Galena. Denny Sikes, minister, will officiate. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
