Bio
Robert Lee Walker, Sr. 67 of Athens, passed away April 24, 2024 peacefully at his home. He was born November 14, 1956 in Athens, TX to GL and Nova Lee Walker. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Roy (Tutor-Bill) Walker and James Walker, sister: Patsy Walker, and nephew Shane Walker. Robert graduated Athens High School in 1975 and quickly married his high school sweetheart, Sheila, on November 18, 1975. He started off working for Larry Hampton servicing water well pumps for many years. He then worked for 15 years at Texas Wholesale before opening his pride and joy Walker Plumbing Supply in 1994. It was truly a family business that he and his loving wife ran together with the help of their two sons and nephew Chad Walker. Throughout his 25 years in business Robert helped countless others in Athens get started and grow their own businesses just like he had. Robert loved his Man Cave and sitting on the back porch. He was an avid hunter and loved to have people out and cook. Robert is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sheila Walker, sons: Bobby Walker and wife Nikki of Ponca City, OK and Cody Walker and wife Megan of Athens, TX, grandchildren: Lane, Ellie, Hadlee, Ethan, Owen, and Addison, brother: Jr. Walker and sisters: Mary Thompson, Betty Arnold, and Jo Walker, many beloved nephews and nieces that are too numerous to list. A special thank you to all the nurses, and doctors from UT Health and to Cedar Lake Home Health and Hospice for all the care and support to him and the family.
