Bio

Angeline Hall Bays, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, March 29, 2024 in Smyrna, TN. She was a longtime resident of Richlands, Virginia. She was born on August 22, 1930 in Wise County, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Garland and Ethel Renfro Hall of Coeburn, Virginia. Angeline was a graduate of St. Paul High School Class of 1949. Angeline was a very active member of the Richlands Presbyterian Church until her declining health in 2017. She was in the church choir for many years, helping with Bible School, a member of the Women of the Church, and the Ladies Circle. Angeline also enjoyed being involved in the Richlands Garden Club, the Richlands Women's Club, XYZ functions at the Gethsemane Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, O.T. Bays; brother, Paul, Kyle, and Garland Hall, Jr.; and sisters, Pauline Buchanan, Peggy Lipps, and Shirley Saunders. Survivors are: Son: Dr. Thomas F. Bays and wife, Linda of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Daughters: Janet Mears and husband, Gale of Smyrna, TN Lisa Reed and husband, Steve of Murfreesboro, TN Grandchildren: Thomas Mears and wife, Macey of Smyrna, TN ; Hannah Keene and husband, Colton of Christiansburg, VA; Joshua Chalfant and Carson Chalfant of Murfreesboro, TN Great Grandchildren: Jayden Mears, Levi Dillon, and Jacob Mears of Smyrna, TN Sister in Law: Linda Hall of Savannah, Georgia An additional blessing of a great-granddaughter, Norah Keene, is expected in early May. Funeral services for Angeline Hall Bays will be conducted Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 7pm at the Richlands Presbyterian Church, 200 Lee Street, Richlands, Virginia 24641 with the Dr. Ted Hagan officiating. Interment will follow on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 12:30pm at Temple Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Castlewood, Virginia. Those wishing to attend the interment are asked to be at the church by 1030am on Wednesday morning. Grandsons and Great Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family from 5pm until 7pm on Tuesday evening at the church prior to the funeral service. A special thank you for the many cards and letters received from her church family and friends; your kind words brought great comfort to her. The family would also like to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses of Adoration Hospice for their compassion and care during their mother's illness.
