"Death of Captain John C. Brady -- We notice in our exchanges the announcement of the death of Captain John C. Brady, brother in law of George S. Lacey, Esq., of this city. He died at Okolona, Mississippi. He was well known in this city and in the Bayou Sara trade in which he engaged for years before the war as a steamboat Captain. He was a most estimable man." -- New Orleans Bee, January 28, 1870 "DIED: At Okolona, Miss., January 19, 1870, at 4 o'clock P.M., in his sixty-fifth year, Capt. John C. Brady, a native of Ireland, and for the last forty years a resident of Louisiana." -- New Orleans Times, January 26, 1870
