Bio

daughter of John Picha Louisa Picha married Vincent Ermis on 23 April 1894 in Gozales County, Texas. Seymour and vicinity was shocked last Friday to hear of the tragical killing of Mrs. J.M. Ermis by her husband and his own suicide. Five years ago, Mr. Ermis had a sunstroke. Last year, he became overheated and tried to kill himself, but was prevented by his wife. Thursday, he hauled a big load of wood in the middle of the day and became crazed with heat. Early Friday morning, he seized a shotgun and while his wife was still in bed fired two shots at her. She then ran out on the porch where the last shot took effect in her breast, from which she died 15 minutes later. Mr. Ermis then cut his own throat with a razor. Funeral services were held on Saturday by Father Hasse of Hamlin. Eight small children are left, the eldest being 12 years and the youngest 13 months old. The family lives five miles southeast of Seymour. Mr. Ermis worked last year for W.R. Martin and was a mighty nice fellow. F.E. Ermis' parents and two brothers were in Seymour for a few days from Schulenburg, also John Picha, the father of Louisa Ermis were in Seymour from Shiner. John Picha will take four of the children and F.E. Ermis will take the other four.
