Chester "Chet" Lonowski, 98 of Loup City, NE died Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. Father Richard Piontkowski will celebrate the mass. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church with a Knights of Columbus Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Chester "Chet" Lonowski was born January 11th, 1926 in Viking, Alberta Canada. On Sept. 9, 1947, he married Lorretta Woitaszewski in Loup City. They started farming in the Loup City area. In 1960, they settled on a farm between Loup City and Arcadia along the Middle Loup River where they raised their family and family continues to farm today. Chet was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family. He really enjoyed playing cards and walking outside to look at the clouds and airplanes at Grandview Assisted Living. Survivors include sons, Frank (Karen), Duane, and Ed, all of Loup City, and Tim (Rosie) of Johnson Lake; daughters Jean (Ken) Kowalski of Loup City, Carol (Mark) Peters of Grand Island and Arlene (Mike) Mazankowski of Columbus; 20 grandchildren, and many great-(great)-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta: son, Tony; daughter, Paulette; sisters, Evelyn Gappa and Lorraine Zelewski; brothers, Lawrence and Floyd Lonowski.
