Marie Friesen, 94, of Henderson, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Henderson. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 15 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Reverends Weldon Martens and Jim Voth officiating. *** She was born Oct. 10, 1914 in rural York County to G.E. and Kathrina (Huebert) Friesen. She was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson and Mission Circle One and had previously worked at the Dutch Kitchen for several years. She enjoyed making quilts, gardening, baking, preserving foods and picking fruits while traveling. On Jan. 30, 1936 she married John T. Friesen at Henderson. She is survived by three sons, Don J. (Pauline) Friesen of Henderson, Melvin (Connie) Friesen of Aurora and LaVerne (Carol) Friesen of Wallace; four daughters, Rubena (Thomas) Lloyd Hiebner of Henderson, Myrna (Robert) Johnson of Denver, Colo., Mary (Richard) Claassen of Aurora and Amanda (Clarence) Rempel of Newton, Kan.; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; one brother, Levi H. (Elizabeth) Friesen of Lincoln and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, two brothers and one sister.
