Bio

Virgil "Mac" McMillan, 92, of Waco, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 10, 2008. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Valley Mills First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Christie Robbins officiating. Interment will be at the Valley Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Foss Funeral Home. Mac was born in Bosque County, Texas, to the late John and Mattie (Bearden) McMillan. He married Ava Nell Mallory in 1937 in Mosheim. For many years, he was employed with Downing Bros. Construction Co., and later went on to farming and ranching. He was a volunteer for the China Spring Fire Department and each year always did the cooking for the annual barbeque fund raiser where he met many wonderful friends. He was the most caring and giving father. He was preceded in death by his wife; and a brother, Edwin "Buck" McMillan. Survivors include daughters, Donna McMillan Thompson and husband, Richard, of Waco, Jennifer McMillan, of Waco, and Sherry Lynn Murphy, of Meridian; son, Phillip McMillan and wife, Charlotte, of Bend, Texas; grandson, Eric McMillan, of California; great-grandson, Bryce McMillan; great-granddaughter, DeMar McMillan; brothers, Jack McMillan and Clark McMillan, both of Valley Mills; sisters, Edna Gilmore, Joyce Higginbotham, and Florence Sadler, all of Killeen; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
