Bio

Catherine E. Smith, 81, passed away to Jesus' peace Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Catherine was born July 20, 1926, in Cleburne to Cathryn E. and Austin Huckabee. She grew up there and attended Cleburne schools. She was a loving, carefree person who was thoughtful to everyone. In 1946, she met and married Harold E. Smith. To this union was born a precious son, Michael. He was both seriously handicapped and greatly loved. Catherine took care of him for many years. Michael passed away in 2000. Since then she also lost her husband; brother, Thomas; a sister, Fern; and another brother, Dean, in 1987. Survivors: Left to mourn and cherish her memory are her sister, Will Anna H. Mabe; nephew, Jerry Mabe; nieces, Donna Christ and husband, Joe, Linda McKnight and husband, Douglas, and Sharon Shirts and husband, Don; and stepson, Leroy Smith.
