West Valley View Avondale, Arizona Friday, November 09, 2012 Mary Jane Hodge-Guengerich, 87, of Goodyear died Oct. 31, 2012, in Avondale from Alzheimer's. Mrs. Hodge-Guengerich was born Oct. 21, 1925, in St. Joseph, Mo. She moved to Arizona in 1994. She was a retired post master in Fostor, Ore., and was a member of Sun City West Baptist Church, Life Time Auxiliary of the VFW and American Legion in Sweet Home, Ore. She lived at the Avondale Assisted Living Home for the last two and half years. She lived 15 years in Sun City and 48 years in Foster, Ore. She is survived by one daughter, Lenora Merkey of Quitman, Texas; one son, Robert "Bob" Hodge of Goodyear; one sister, Helen Teasley of Cheyenne, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Nov. 12 at Lewis Cemetery in Sweet Home, Ore. ∼ Mary Jane Hodge Guengerich, 87, formerly of Sweet Home, and for the last three years, of Avondale, Ariz., at the Avondale Assisted Living Home, died on Oct. 31, 2012. She worked with the Sun City West Baptist Church in Sun City West, Ariz. and spent 49 years teaching Sunday School and other church groups at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Foster. She lived on Wiley Creek for fifty years and moved to Arizona in 1994, to be closer to family. In 1995, she married Delmar P. Guengerich of Sun City. Her survivors are her oldest son Robert C. Hodge Jr. and his wife Mary Opal, of Goodyear, Ariz.; daughter Lenora Ann (Hodge) Merkey and her husband John, of Quitman, Texas; daughter-in-law Karen Hodge; grandchildren Trisha (Hodge) Frank, of New River, Ariz., wife of Dale Hodge (deceased), Rhonda (Shield) Hodge of Avondale, James Robert Hodge, of Oregon, Shannon Dale Richter, of Denton, Texas, Christopher Allen Richter and wife, Jennifer (Baker) of Prosper, Texas, Bradley Jay Hodge and wife Tonya (Badger), of Winnemucca, Nev., Susan (Hodge) Borresch and husband Chad, of Elko, Nev. and Mary Ann (Richter) Teague and husband Christopher, of Houston, Texas; 16 great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; and sister Helen (Lofflin) Teasley of Cheyenne, Wyo. Her first husband of 49 years, Robert C Hodge Sr., son Donald L. Hodge, grandson Dale Robert Hodge, sister Florance Ramsey, mother Melba (Bunn) Monpleasure and father Franklin Lofflin all died before she did.
