Bio

Edward Cinek, age 87, died peacefully on February 21, 2024. He was born in Penelope, Texas, on October 16, 1936, to Edward and Hattie (Kucera) Cinek. He graduated from West High School and attended Baylor University. Edward proudly served his country as a Petty Officer in the United States Navy, remaining active in the Reserves for four additional years. On April 19, 1958, Edward married the love of his life, Agnes Kapavik. Edward loved dominoes, Czech music, and dancing. He and Agnes danced every weekend when they could. They were married for 60 years. They settled in Ennis, Texas, to raise their family, enjoy the land, and make many happy memories. Those memories include having plentiful gardens, pecan and fruit trees, and celebrating holidays with family. Edward worked as a Salesman for Armstrong & McCall for years, learning the business and advancing from warehouse and inventory ordering to salesman. Ed would understand the customers' needs as a salesman and find ways to help. Later, the opportunity presented itself to open a new business. Edward opened his first RDA Pro Mart store. His warm and genuine personality and strong business sense made his store successful. He retired in 2008, and was missed by many who fondly called him Ed on his territory. Edward was a Knights of Columbus and Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church member. He served twice as Grand Knight in the KC, and you could always find him serving traditional Czech food at the KC Hall during the Polka Festival. Edward was an avid reader and used his talents to serve as a lector at St. John. Parishioners often commented how his voice carried the Word of God so clearly during the Mass. Edward is preceded in death by his loving wife, Agnes Cinek, his parents, Edward and Hattie Cinek, and nephew, Robert Gene Cinek, Jr. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, February 26, 2024 with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Chapel, Ennis Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with an interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
