Roy Edward Krieg, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023, in Georgetown, TX at the age of 98. Roy was born December 26, 1924 in Thrall, TX to Pauline and Oscar Krieg. Roy was the eldest of three sons. He worked at Krieg Brothers Chevrolet, in Thrall, TX, during his high school years. Upon graduation from Thrall High School, he enlisted in the Army and served overseas in Europe during WWII. He said many times that he was taught, "That all good men are asked to come to the aid of their Country," and so he did. On August 10, 1947, he married Josephine Becker of Thorndale, TX, and they remained married for 67 years until her death on January 30, 2015. Roy attended the University of Texas, graduating in August 1951, with a BBA degree, emphasis in accounting. He worked for over 30 years as an accountant with the petroleum industry, fondly referring to himself "An Oily." He was active in his church using his accounting skills to assist as a treasurer and on the finance and audit committees. His love of wood working was always a delight to him, and he would say he needed to be "inspired" to do a project. Josephine and his daughter, grandchildren, and his church were his best examples of inspiration. He was always a pleasure to be around, and he enjoyed teaching anyone who was around and was willing to listen to his sage advice. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife, Josephine and brother Robert Krieg. He is survived by his daughter Kay McCarthy and husband Tom; three grandchildren, Craig McCarthy and wife Meghan, Sara Schmid and husband Patrick, Jean Pettet and husband Brandon; and seven great-grandchildren, Claire McCarthy, James McCarthy, Ethan Schmid, Arianna Schmid, Nathan Pettet, Rowan Pettet, and Coogan Pettet. He is also survived by his youngest brother Earl Krieg and numerous nieces and nephews. Please no flowers, in lieu of flowers, donations can be given to a charity of your choice.
