Bio

DeRidder--Funeral services for the Rev. Clyde Cooley, 73, will be at 4 p.m. today, Sept. 5, in First Baptist Church of DeRidder. The Rev. Stansel L. Allcorn will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home. Visitation is 8 a.m.-2 p.m. in the funeral home and from 3 p.m. in the church. The Rev. Cooley died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1998, in the DeRidder hospital. A lifelong resident of DeRidder, he was the owner of Cooley's Radio and TV. He was a member of First Baptist Church of DeRidder and the DeRidder Ministerial Alliance, for which he was pastor of the jail ministry for over 30 years and the nursing home and hospital ministries. He was coordinator of the transient ministry. A former president of the Louisiana Gideons, he was a combat veteran of the European Theater in World War II, where he served in France. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Survivors include two sons, Ronald D. Cooley and Kenneth "Thumper" Cooley, both of DeRidder; one daughter, Sharon Cooley Sandlin of DeRidder; one brother, Jimmy Earl Cooley of Silver Springs, Md.; one sister, Aulina Bellando of DeRidder; his mother, Mrs. Ermel V. Cooley of DeRidder; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
