Bio

We gather here today to celebrate the homecoming of a cherished soul, Lenart L. Zapalac, a man whose life was as full and bountiful as the Texas fields he so dearly loved. Born on December 13, 1936 in the welcoming town of Columbus, Texas, Lenart was a beacon of faith and kindness throughout his earthly journey, which came to a peaceful close on February 16, 2024 in the very place he took his first breath. From the tender age of youth, Lenart was a shining example of the values we hold dear. Educated at St. John's Catholic School in Fayetteville, Texas, he carried the torch of lifelong learning and an unwavering moral compass. A devoted husband to his beloved wife of 58 years, Leonora, it was one of true partnership of love and mutual respect. Together, they nurtured a family tree that stands strong through their daughters, Lori and her husband, Darrell Moerbe, and Lisa with her husband, Ty Gammill. A proud patriarch, Lenart was blessed with a lineage of love, including his grandchildren, BJ, Catie, and Bryce Moerbe, and Tyler, Megan, Angel, and Xander Gammill and great- grandchildren, Branson and Garrett Moerbe. His legacy flourishes through each of them, as they carry forth his teachings and tender-heartedness. For over four decades, Lenart worked at Fayetteville Propane, dedicating 46 and a half years to providing warmth and light to the homes of his community. His work was not merely a job but a calling, embodying his belief in service and reliability. They became his second family. To speak of Lenart is to speak of a man of profound faith. He walked in the light of the Lord, his life a testament to the grace that guides the righteous path. His intelligence was a gift he shared freely, enriching conversations with wisdom and insight. Today, as we reflect upon the life of Lenart L. Zapalac, let us not dwell in the shadows of sorrow, but rather rejoice in the splendor of his journey. He was a man who planted seeds of goodness in the fertile soil of our hearts, now blooming into a garden of cherished memories. Though Lenart has departed from our earthly congregation, his spirit remains an indelible part of our lives. In every kind gesture, in every moment of quiet reflection, in every prayer whispered in the stillness of night, we will feel his presence among us. As we bid farewell to Lenart, let us do so with grateful hearts, celebrating the blessings he bestowed upon us. May we honor his memory by living with the same conviction and compassion that he demonstrated each day of his admirable life. And now, dear friends, let us commend Lenart to the Almighty, confident that he has found his place in the eternal embrace of our Creator. In the words of Scripture, "Well done, good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Matthew 25:21) Rest well, Lenart L. Zapalac, until we meet again beyond the golden horizon, where the light of God's love knows no end. Amen.
