James H. Alphin, 87, of Pasadena, Texas passed away August 16, 2020. He was born in Rosenberg, Texas on January 18, 1933 to Dick and Nell Alphin. He was married to Shirley Huddleston Alphin for 63 years. James had a career with the U.S. Federal Government for 29 years, including the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama and NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. He worked for Grumman for three years prior to retirement. He also enjoyed his side business repairing air conditioners and helping his NASA co-workers with their A/C needs. A highlight of his NASA career was the Apollo 11 lunar landing. He had a passion for bowling and watching sports of all kinds. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, reading, and playing online games. He was preceded in death by his parents, his bother Marvin Hargrove, his sisters Frances Bailey and Marjorie Stanley. He was also preceded in death by his nephews Marvin Hairgrove Jr. and Ray Bailey. He is survived by his wife Shirley Alphin.
