Steve Calvert Steve Hollis Calvert passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday evening, September 29, 2022. Steve was 75 years old and was the oldest son of Dessie Levens Calvert and John Arnold Calvert. Steve was born on December 6, 1946 in Foley, AL. A member on Robertsdale High School class of 1964. Steve joined the Army shortly after graduation and served six years; most of this in the reserves. He started his career in Telephony at General Telephone in Lakeland, Florida and later moved back to Robertsdale in the early 70's where he went to work for Gulf Telephone. He retired after working there for 29 years. Steve loved boating, scuba diving, Creedence Clearwater Revival and, most of all, watching Alabama football "Roll Tide." He also played on a men's softball team for many years where he met lifelong friends. There were many gatherings held over the decades for all occasions- birthdays, football games, Christmas- Steve loved being around friends and family. Steve leaves behind a loving wife, Cathy, of 44 years; four children; Julie Calvert, Chris Calvert (Lisa), Blakeli Nelson (Patrick), Stacy Jones (DJ); six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one brother, Tim (Debbie), one stepsister, Chris Childress (Bob); and many loving nieces and nephews. A "celebration of life" will be held on Saturday, October 15th, from 1-3 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 19197 County Road 12 S, Foley,AL. We will have food and fellowship first with the service following at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made to Feeding the Gulf Coast a local charity working to nourish our community.
