Bio

Johnny Dwain Moore, aged 77, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, May 19, 2023. He was born on December 28, 1945, to John Patrick Moore and Beatrice Wood Moore in Corsicana, Texas. Johnny moved to Waxahachie in 1960 and was a proud member of the Waxahachie High School class of 1964. After high school, Johnny joined the United States Army at the age of 19. He trained at Fort Hood and Fort Ord, California before returning to Texas, where he served in the United States Army National Guard for 23 years, retiring in 1989 as Sergeant First Class of the 49th Armored Division. Following in his dad's footsteps, Johnny began his career as a Class A machinist with Austin Bridge. He worked his way up to the position of supervisor and superintendent of the North Texas Repair Facility, eventually ending his career in 2005 as the manufacturing supervisor of Trencor, Inc. Johnny loved Jesus. He was saved at the age of 9 and remained a faithful member of Farley Street Baptist Church for 53 years. Johnny had a deep devotion to his country, a passion for motorcycles, and, above all, a love for his family. He enjoyed spending summers camping with his family and had a knack for fixing everything, including building his sons' first cars. In retirement, he spent his time traveling the country on his Harley with friends, especially with his wife, Donna. It was evident to all who knew him that he cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren. Known as Grandaddy and DooDa, Johnny adored his grandkids Austin and Foster. Whether it was watching Austin ride horses, taking the boys on his Harley, or watching cartoons with Foster, he spent the best times of his life with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Eugene Moore. Johnny was an amazing, loving family man. He was tough to the core, loyal, and caring. His smile would light up the room, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Oh, how he will be missed. Burial Saturday, May 27, 2023 3:00 - 4:00pm (Central time) Waxahachie City Cemetery 400 S Hawkins St, Waxahachie, TX 75165
