Hays -- Cecelia B. Schmidt, 87, Hays, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at Hays Good Samaritan Center. Mrs. Schmidt was born Cecelia B. Gottschalk on Nov. 26, 1910, at Schoenchen, and was a lifelong resident of Ellis County. She was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since 1993. She was a homemaker and a cook at Hadley Hospital. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays. Her husband, Clarence M., died in 1992. Survivors include a son, Kenneth of Jewett, Texas; a daughter, Darlene Wellbrock of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; a brother, Fred Gottschalk of Denver; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, Hays, the Rev. Earl Befort officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Hays Good Samaritan Center. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 2509 Vine, Hays 67601.
