Bio
Wilbur R. Roberts, 89, of Grand Island passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024. A burial of ashes will take place on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Phillips Cemetery. Pastor Anny Kapundu will officiate. Wilbur was born on December 5, 1934 at Aurora, son of Thomas and Elenore (Caulkins) Roberts. He grew up around Aurora and Phillips where he graduated from High School. He earned his electrician certificate in Lincoln. On September 5, 1953 he married Ramona Dunham, they were blessed with six children and 69 years together. Wilbur was self employed as an electrician, heating and air. He was a hard worker and he knew how to keep busy. Often his children would find themselves helping and working alongside their father. He was also employed by Pioneer Seed and Aurora Co-op. He loved the outdoors and lived for fishing, camping and boating. Wilbur also enjoyed hunting and bringing home a family favorite, ducks. He shared many of tips and tricks and love for the outdoors with his children. Wilbur is survived by his children, Bob (Maggie) Roberts, Brad (Pam) Roberts, Bryan (Jenn) Roberts, and Tim (Amber) Roberts; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona on September 12, 2023; children, Laurie and Tom.
