Bio

John William "Johnny" Wells, Jr., 91, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Friday, January 12, 2024 in Graham. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Faith Center in Graham, followed by burial in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. Johnny was born June 3, 1932 in Cooper, Texas to the late John William and Bertha Linnie (Morrison) Wells. He married the love of his life, Betty Jane Freeman February 9, 1952 in Albany, Texas. She preceded him in death on August 21, 2013. Johnny and Betty moved from Throckmorton to Graham in 1956, where he was employed by Morrison Smith Lumber Company. He was hired as the yard manager for Tommy's Well Service in 1972, then joined his sons at Wells Oilfield Services in 1992 (where his favorite work-related activity was going out for breakfast and lunch each day with his sons!). Johnny has been an active member of Faith Center Assembly of God since 1956. Johnny served the community as a volunteer fireman for over 37 years and was an original board member and faithful participant of the Remembering Wyatt Dale water safety foundation until his death. Survivors include sons Mike Wells (Jessica) and Tony Wells (Elaine), daughter Diane Wells Cheren all of Graham, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Ruby Wells of Midland, numerous nieces and nephews and very special friends Tony and Tracey Terasas. Johnny was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, brothers Curtis, Cecil, Coy, Roy, James, and Doyle, and sister Joyce Wells Boland. Visitation will be at the funeral home chapel Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
