Jo Ann Balcar Hlavaty, 80 of El Campo, passed away on January 8, 2024. She was born on November 6, 1943 in El Campo to the late Willie and Mary Bartos Balcar. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and K.J.Z T. She loved music, dancing, was an avid KULP listener and enjoyed working in the yard. She loved her family deeply and will be dearly missed. Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 60 wonderful years, A.J. Hlavaty of El Campo; daughter Nancy Hlavaty Fucik of El Campo; sons, David Hlavaty and wife Lara of Houston, Philip Hlavaty and wife Amy of McKinney, and Gary Hlavaty and wife Traci of Katy; grandchildren, Stephanie Janssen and husband Kyle, Jessica Fucik and fiancé Garrison Smith, Allison Fucik, Zachary Johnson, Krysten Hlavaty, Ayden Hlavaty, Lucas Hlavaty, Shea Hlavaty, Cameron Hlavaty, and Logan Hlavaty; great grandchildren, Case Janssen and Sadie Janssen; sister, Mary Lee Smajstrla; and brother, Victor Balcar and wife Mary Jane; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Jennie Lee Balcar; and brother Adolph Balcar and wife Sophie. Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 4 PM at Triska Funeral Home with a CDA Rosary at 6:00PM. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 12 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Hlavaty, Philip Hlavaty, Gary Hlavaty, Jeff Balcar, Lucas Hlavaty, and Zachary Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Hlavaty and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to St. Philip School Endowment Fund or Donor's Choice.
