Bio
Fred Chop 82 of Ravenna, NE died Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, NE. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the Ravenna City Auditorium with Reverend Matt Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9 at the Ravenna City Auditorium. Fred I. Chop was born on August 11, 1941 in Kearney, NE to Fred and Louise (LeFever) Chop. He was raised in Ravenna, NE and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1959. After graduation Fred worked in the Worrrick Company both in Ravenna and Broken Bow and on the family farm with his mom. He met his bride to be as he was working part-time at the Worrick Company in Broken Bow. Fred married Sharon Johnson in June 23, 1963. Bob Chop was born into this union. Fred continued to operate and manage the 100-year-old family farm with Sharon and Bob until his health declined and he retired in 2020. Fred loved visiting with family and friends. He would take Sharon on rides around the country side to visit and see other farms or to pick up parts. He had fun playing Pitch with family and friends and was in a card club with Sharon. Watching RDFTV was a favorite and keeping up on all the markets was a great past time for him. Fred was always giving advice and lessons on the markets for family to learn. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Chop of Loup City, NE; son, Bob (Brenda) Chop of Ravenna, NE; granddaughter, MiKayla (Chris) Roth of Ravenna, NE; and grandson, Kyle Chop of Kearney, NE and brother, Jim (Vickie) Burks of Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Louise Chop; sister, Melinda Burks and many aunts, uncles and family friends.
