Elmo "LaMont" Palmer 1941 - 2023 Elmo LaMont Palmer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on the evening of December 14, 2023. He was 82 years old. LaMont was born to George Elmo Palmer and Pearla Rozell Peine on October 9, 1941, in Farmington, New Mexico. LaMont was the oldest of six children. He was raised in Kirtland, New Mexico, surrounded by a large and loving extended family. LaMont graduated from Kirtland Central High School in 1959. He started Brigham Young University that fall. After his freshman year, LaMont transferred to New Mexico State University. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1962 to 1965 in the North German Mission. After his mission, LaMont returned to NMSU where he graduated with a BS in Mathematics in 1968. Following his graduation, he returned to BYU for a graduate degree where he met Sandra Corier; they were married on June 6, 1969, in the Salt Lake Temple. LaMont and Sandi moved to Kent, Washington, in 1969, when LaMont accepted a position at Boeing Corporation. LaMont was a computer programmer, analyst and senior manager during his 35-year career with Boeing. LaMont and Sandi made Kent their home for 50 years. They raised their six children there. LaMont served as bishop of the Kent 1st Ward, but his favorite calling was being a Primary teacher. He enjoyed serving others through his church callings and privately in the community. While living in Kent, Lamont and Sandi served four missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 2019, LaMont and Sandi moved to Saratoga Springs, Utah, to be closer to their daughters. Shortly after moving to Utah, they served their final mission during COVID as employment specialists for the Church at the American Fork Employment Resource Center. Anyone who knew LaMont, knew he loved his family. His grandchildren were his greatest joy! If there was a baby in the room, he would be holding it. He loved to whistle, make up silly songs, and tell funny stories to his grandkids. LaMont was always smiling, and he would go out of his way to make people feel welcome. He always found opportunities to share his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which gives us comfort at this time that families are eternal. LaMont is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandi; his children and their spouses: Weston Palmer (Erin), Heidi Tyler (Dan), James Palmer (Kelly), Holly Durfey (Justin), David Palmer (Kaylene) and Mindy Parry (Craig); and his 23 grandchildren.
