Lyle Williams Obituary It is with great sadness that the family of Lyle Gustave "Gus" Williams announces his passing on Dec. 15, 2023. Gus was born Sept. 20, 1932, in Broken Bow, Neb. He was the second child of the late Bonnie Fair and Harry Williams. He grew up on the family farm in Custer County and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1950. In 1959, Gus met and married the love of his life, Mary. They moved to California where Gus worked as a cowboy for McDougal Livestock Company in Collinsville, Calif.. When McDougal relocated to Nevada, Gus and Mary, who grew up with cold winters, decided to stay in California where they raised three children Lee, Dan and Ken. Gus enjoyed watching his favorite teams the 49er's, Giants and A's. Mostly Gus loved doting on his granddaughters and, most recently, his great-granddaughter. Gus was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. His home was a welcome haven for family, friends and neighbors. He touched many lives and will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; parents; brothers Wayne and Ike; sister Margie; infant twin sons Harlyn and Harry Williams; parents-in-law Georgia and Douglas Mills; and granddaughter Kristel Williams. Gus is survived by sons Lee (Paula) Williams, Dan (Valerie) Williams and Ken (Jeanette) Williams; granddaughters Dr. Jessica Williams, Megan (John) Shelby and Ashley (Frank) Anckaer; and great-granddaughter Eleanor Iris Shelby. A celebration of life will be held Friday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., at C.E. Stewart Chapel, 189 North Second St., Rio Vista, Calif. Reception will follow the service. Gus and Mary will be interred at a later date at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
