Christopher was born before 1755 to Johannes Christoffel Schacke and his wife Barbara, probably their youngest child (other than his younger half-brother). Christopher served in the Continental Army during the years 1777-1779. In 1779, he went on a shopping spree and was later tried and convicted, and received sentence of death, for passing counterfeit thirty dollar bills of Continental money. Counterfeiting was considered an act of treason at the time, and he seems to have been poor, so he would not be treated kindly by the governing body who executed him in regard to burial. He was likely buried in a pauper or prisoner's grave near the prison in Carlisle. Christopher was married to Rosannah (King?) Shilling (c.1754 - after 1850). They had three children (possibly a fourth was born after his death): 1) John Shockey (c.1771 - 17 Jan 1859) 2) Mary Shockey (c.1776 - Aft. 1860) 3) Henry Shockey (Bet. 1776-1780 - 2 Apr 1859) - Y-DNA demonstrates that Henry's biological father was not Christopher, probably a certain Mr. Neff and likely from the C-line as described by Neff Family Historical Society . 4?) Abram Shockey (c.1775 - Aft. 1795) may have been another son and thus Henry would have been born a few months after Christopher died. Y-DNA also shows that Daniel Shockey (1795-1886) was Christopher's grandson. He was probably a son of John, or maybe Abram. The Shockey Genealogy Committee has done a thorough investigation of the documents for Christopher and recommends removing "Christian" from his name.
