Bio
Loren Ewing, 88, Bonaparte, died at 7:40 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 1996, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. He was born June 16, 1907, at Allendale, Missouri, the son of Andrew and Cordelia Adams Ewing. He married Erma Davis July 31, 1932. She survives. He had been a resident of Bonaparte for the past 48 years and was a high school teacher and coach at Centerville. He owned and operated Bonaparte Lumber Yard. He was a member of the Christian Church, Mount Ayr, and was past member of both the Bonaparte Lions Club and Bonaparte School Board. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Ann Ewing, West Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9 at Bonaparte United Church, with Reverend Thelma Subramanian officiating. Burial was in Bonaparte Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Bonaparte First Responders or Bonaparte Historical Society. Hofbauer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
