Bio

Carl W. Sorrells GILMER - Services for Carl W. Sorrells, 86, Gilmer, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home chapel in Gilmer with the Rev. J.C. Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Morris Cemetery. Mr. Sorrells died Saturday in a Gilmer nursing home after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 19, 1906, in Upshur County and was a lifelong resident. He was a retired carpenter. Survivors include one daughter, Verna Ferguson, Gilmer; two grandchildren, Loretta Ferguson and Ronnie Ferguson; one great-grandchild, Jacob Paul Ferguson; and one brother, Hoyt C. Sorrells, Gilmer.
