ODESSA - Jake D. Grigry of Odessa passed from this life Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at University Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 68. He was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Ardmore, Okla., to William and Anna Mae Grigry and moved to Wickett, Texas, in December of 1934. Jake married Patricia Smith Nov. 17, 1968, and served his country in the Korean War, retiring from the Navy and the Naval Reserves. He was an oilfield welder, an electrician, worked in heating and air conditioning and was an engineering supervisor until he retired in 1991. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodcarving and was a member of Open Door Assembly of God Church. In the past, he was a Royal Ranger leader with the church. Jake is survived by his wife, Patricia Grigry of Odessa; four sons, Scott Brown, Greg Brown, Jason Grigry and Jody Grigry, all of Odessa; a daughter, Kimberly Rollins of Lake Butler, Fla.; his brothers, Wayne Grigry and Leon Grigry, both of Monahans; his sisters, Ruth Adams of Douglas, Ga., Billie Ragan of Odessa, Mary Nall of Monahans, Polly Flatt of Victoria and Donna Hunt of Mancus, Colo.; as well as his seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Open Door Assembly of God with Rev. Larry Elder and Rev. Jeremy Gaddis officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Royal Ranger of Open Door Assembly of God Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
