Bio

Michael Benson McIntyre, 69, of Chatham, VA, formerly of Chesapeake, VA, passed peacefully January 26, 2021. He was the eldest son of the late Robert Benson McIntyre and Catherine Rose McCormack McIntyre. He leaves behind his wife, best friend and adventure companion, Nancy McIntyre. He is also survived by two sons, Matthew McIntyre and his fiancé Sarah Titus and Nicholas McIntyre and his fiancé Debbie-Ann Lindo, two brothers, Gary McIntyre and Andy McIntyre and his wife Karen, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all of whom held special places in his heart. Mike retired after 34 years with the City of Virginia Beach, his last position as an environmental inspector. He had great respect for the natural environment and enjoyed being outdoors hiking, fishing, hunting, gardening and gazing at the stars. Working out with friends at PTX in Pungo, Virginia Beach and the Altavista YMCA was of great importance as well. He and Nancy loved exploring new places, parks and trails together and he loved taking photos of the world around him. But the highlight of everyday was caring for his Great Pyrenees dogs, Simon and Ivy. Memorial donations may be made to Appalachian Great Pyrenees Rescue or other animal rescue organization or to the Altavista YMCA, 718 7th Street, Altavista, VA 24517.
