Bio
Charles Ronald Shelton, Sr. 87, passed away Friday, October 13th, 2023 at his home in Leavenworth, Indiana. He was born on November 15, 1935 in Alton, Indiana to the late David and Ceilia Bell Shelton. He worked as a foreman for Padgett Crane, Iron Worker with Local 70 for 55 years. In Charles' younger days, he enjoyed stock car racing at the sportsdrome, then later found his passion in fishing and hunting, even assisting in the formation of the Pine Ridge Bow Hunters Club. Charles is survived by his children, Julie Myers (Jerry), Cynthia Bodenbender and Charles Shelton Jr.; sister, Annis Hall (Bob); grandchildren, Dustin & Dylan Myers, Wesley & Cody Bodenbender, Erin, Carla, Halle, Stevie & Shelby Shelton; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty; son, Jimmy Shelton; infant children, Rickey & Paula Shelton; brothers, James & Elmer Shelton; sisters, Anna Mae Stultz, Relma Dixon, and Leona Robinson; and great-grandchild, Dalton Lutz. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October, 19th, 2023, 4pm – 8pm and Friday 11am – 1pm. Funeral Service will follow after visitation on Friday at 1pm. Charles will be entombed with his wife, Betty, at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.
