Janet Kendall Long, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, returned to her Heavenly Fathers presence on October 2, 2023, at the age of 76 in Nampa, Idaho. Janet was born on January 5, 1947, in American Falls, Idaho, to Waldo and June Kendall. As the 3rd of 5 children, life on the farm in Aberdeen, Idaho forged lasting relationships with her siblings thanks to hard work, messy tinsel on the Christmas tree and mice being thrown at an older sister when she got especially bossy. Janet was known for her kind and compassionate nature, always accepting people for who they were and loving them unconditionally. She had a deep love for her family and friends. Many of those friends became family to her. Janet leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her children: Jon Long, John Bartlett (Michelle), Matthew Bartlett (Gretchen), Pyper Hersom (Josh), and Jeremiah Long (Laura), as well as daughter-in-law Coreena Long. She was also blessed with 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Janet's love for her family was evident in everything she did, and each child believed they were her favorite, although the truth was that her grandchildren held that honor. In her career, Janet met her sweetheart while working for the Bell System. She later transitioned to selling Birkenstocks, collecting almost as many as she sold. Ultimately, she retired from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as an administrative assistant for a local facilities management group. Janet was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found solace in her worship there. She had a strong testimony of her Savior and cherished spending time in the temple. In her free time, Janet enjoyed sewing and quilting, creating beautiful baby blankets for each of her grandchildren. She also loved solving jigsaw puzzles and made several visits to Disneyland in her later years, creating cherished memories with her family. Janet was always up for a friendly card game and would often play with her grandchildren, even if it meant losing a few games of old maid. She had a tradition of making Christmas treats every year and generously shared them with friends, neighbors, and those she ministered to. Janet also took great joy in cheering on her grandchildren at their dance, taekwondo, soccer, and academic events. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 10:30am at 6111 Birch Lane, Nampa, Idaho 83687. Following the funeral, a graveside service and dedication will take place at the VA Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. In accordance with Janet's wishes, there will be no public viewing.
