Bio
Barbara McClaugherty, age 91, a longtime resident of Houston, Texas, peacefully entered into eternity surrounded by her family on September 22, 2023, at The Park at Bay Area Assisted Living in Pasadena, Texas. She was born in Pelly, Texas, on April 17, 1932, to the late Vernon Lee Murray and Gladys Lee Linscombe Murray. On September 15, 1951, she married the late Travis Harold McClaugherty, and they enjoyed 52 wonderful years of marriage. Barbara and Travis adopted twins, Chris Darwin and Christi Darlene, as infants and their third child was Kelley Colleen. Barbara was a 1951 graduate of Charles H. Milby High School. She had a short career as a file clerk at Shell Oil Company where she cultivated many lifelong friendships. Barbara worked with Travis in his chiropractic office off and on for many years. She loved and served the Lord and was an encourager to many. She supported missionaries and worked with Children's Ministry for many years. She touched the lives of those around her in profound and meaningful ways and will be remembered for her genuine smile and her eyes full of expression. She had the gift of hospitality and was always ready to host a meal or offer a place in her home for someone in need. She was devoted to her family and created a wonderful life demonstrating love, happiness, acceptance, compassion, and forgiveness. Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Kelley McClaugherty Trimble; siblings Ronnie Murray and Kay Beck and husband, George Beck; grandchildren Matthew and Michael McClaugherty, Amy Trimble Chandler and husband, C. Ryan Chandler, and Timothy Trimble and wife, Courtney Trimble; great grandchildren Lily McClaugherty, Beckham Chandler, Baker Chandler, and Brooklyn Chandler; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Tim Trimble, Matthew McClaugherty, Beckham Chandler, Terry McClaugherty, Michael Alston, Cody Newell, and Jim Trimble. Grandson-in-law, C. Ryan Chandler, will be officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family, beginning at 10:00 am, on Saturday, October 7, 2023, in the Main Lobby of South Main Baptist Church, 4300 E Sam Houston Pkwy S, Pasadena, Texas. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 am, at the church with a private graveside service at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas. Peevey Funeral Home
