Pat was born September 7, 1934, in Noble, Oklahoma to parents Otis L. Cassity, Sr. and Nora Eva Helm Cassity. She had two older siblings, Otis Jr. and Peggy Ann. Her early childhood was spent in Noble and Hillsdale. Her father was an Agent-Telegrapher for the Santa Fe Railroad, so when Pat was in the 4th grade, they transferred again to Marland. Marland became her beloved home town, with many friends and fond memories. Pat was proud to have been on the 1951 Marland High School State Champion basketball team. She graduated in 1952. Pat went on to attend St. Joseph School of Nursing in Ponca City and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1956, again making some lifelong friends. Pat married Glenn Welch, Sr. in 1956, and they made their home in Ponca City. They had two children Glenn Jr. and Linda. Pat was an R.N. at the Gibson Clinic for Dr. Bob Gibson the majority of her career, retiring in 1997. Two months after her retirement, Glenn Sr. was diagnosed with cancer and Pat never left his side. She cared for him until he passed in 2002. Pat later went on to do volunteer work. She was a reading buddy at Garfield School, then volunteered for R.S.V.P. Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She volunteered many years for the McCord Senior Center. Pat was an avid and loyal OU fan, she was a larynx cancer survivor, enjoyed history and genealogy, and her friends and family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
