Bio

Ervin Joseph Ketterman, age 95, of Temple passed from this life during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, September 20th, 2023, at his home. He was born on the 6th day of June 1928 in Westphalia to parents Joseph Herman and Mary Rose (Rabroker) Ketterman. Ervin has been a resident of Temple for the past 46 years. In his younger years he lived in Westphalia where he also attended school. He was the 3rd of 8 children. He grew up farming and later went to work for American Desk for 22 years. Ervin worshiped at St. Luke Catholic Church where he led the Rosary, was a sacristan, and was Eucharistic minister. Ervin was awarded the Lumen Gentium award in 2005 for his outstanding demonstration of life, service, and ministry participation in the church. Ervin also helped maintain the yard and keep the church looking beautiful. He enjoyed going to his farm and tending cattle. He was also a huge Temple Wildcats fan and Texas Rangers fan. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Lawrence Ketterman, brother Alois Ketterman, sister, Sister Miriam Joseph Ketterman, and one still born sister. Ervin leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister Angeline "Angie" Gerick, brother Raymond Ketterman and wife Betty Jo, brother Robert Ketterman all of Temple, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023, at 10 a.m. with Father John Guzaldo officiating. The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home on Monday, September 25th, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. Following the service will be a burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Westphalia. There will be a meal following all services at the St. Luke Parish Hall. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with these arrangements.
