Evelyn Mildred (Polan) Puckett, age 97, of Grand Island, passed away in the presence of her family on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Tiffany Square Care Center. Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 29th at 2:00 pm at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo officiating. Burial at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Evelyn was born on January 27, 1926 in rural Valley County, the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Parkus) Polan. She has many fond memories of her childhood in Burwell. The family moved to Grand Island where Evelyn graduated from Grand Island Senior High. She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone until she married. Evelyn was united in marriage to Walter L. Puckett on August 8, 1945, in Long Beach, CA. They lived in Compton, CA until after their first two sons were born, then relocated to Grand Island where the family grew to six children and Walter worked for Union Pacific and Evelyn was a busy stay at home mom. Survivors include her children, Mick (Nancy) Puckett, Gary (Susan) Puckett, Dan (Brenda) Puckett, Andy (Kay) Puckett and Laura Rupp; grandchildren, Wendy (Justin) Tullis, Mike (Jamie) Puckett, Gina Puckett, Jennifer Puckett, Yesmina (Adam) Luchsinger, Dorian (Isabelle) Puckett, MacKenzie Puckett, Heath Prunty, Johnah Jill Prunty, Justin Plejdrup, Stephanie Crow, Megan (Woody) Goertzen, Jacob (Lauren) Rupp and Jessica Rupp; great grandchildren, Colton and Chase Tullis, Sophie and Sadie Puckett, Braden Plejdrup, Jocelyn and Maxwell Crow. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; daughter, LeAnne; daughter in-law, Gaylene; grandson, Develon; aunts, Stacie, Billie, Annie and Josie Polan.
