MARIE BARTU URBAN Marie Bartu was born at Radlice, Czecho Slovakia, May 15, 1846. She was married to Vaclav Urban in 1882 and soon thereafter they came to America, settling at Milligan, Saline county, Nebr., where they resided for four years. Then they moved to the western part of Valley county, where Mr. Urban settled on a homestead near Comstock. There the family farmed for 24 years and there most of the children were born. Then they moved to Comstock, when in 1922, Mrs. Urban became bedfast and her children being grown and away from home, it became apparent that her husband could not give her the needed care so she was prevailed upon to be moved to the home of her son, John, residing 7 miles west of Ord, where she died of hardening of the arteries on October 5th, 1925, at 3 o'clock am at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 20 days. She leaves to mourn her husband and eight living children, twenty seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two of the children having previously died, one of them dying in infancy, the other, Frances, wife of Emil Pliva, dying October 26, 1918. The living children are James Urban of Friend, Nebraska, Joseph, Emil, Will, and Mrs. Mary Nemeskal of Comstock, and John Frank and Charles of Ord. Funeral services were held at the National Hall, Wednesday at 1 pm. She was buried in the National cemetery. Rev.
