Hepp (Pickering)', and his father's name as '--- Pickering', so it's possible he was an adopted son of Francis & Margaret (MOHAT) HEPPE, whom I have here linked as parents. OBITUARY: Beaver Dam Argus, Thursday, December 18, 1919, page 9. Xavier Heppe, a pioneer resident of Dodge County, passed away at the home of his son Julius one-half mile west of Lost Lake Sunday at 11:00 a.m. after an illness of a few days at the age of 79 years. Mr. Heppe was a native of France born in 1840, he came to America at the age of nine years, later he came to the town of Calamus where he has resided since. He was united in marriage to Augusta Cooper [sic] in 1865, who preceded him in death two and one-half years ago, two daughters and two sons survive. Mr. Heppe was a splendid type of a self made man, and by his right living will long be remembered by his many friends, ever courteous and hospitable his honorable and manly nature solicited the admiration of all who knew him. Funeral services were held Tuesday at ten o'clock at St. Mary's church, Lost Lake, Rev. Fr. Velta officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. [Xavier died at 11:15 a.m. of what Dr. F. O. Hunt of Fall River listed as Nephritis, with a contributing factor of Arterio Sclerosis. Julius Hepp of Randolph was the informant on his death certificate.]
