Lori Taliaferro of Winnemucca, Nevada passed away on July 16, 2023 at her home after a lengthy illness. Lori Leshikar was born in Deming, New Mexico on May 1, 1960 and lived in both New Mexico and Arizona before moving with her family to Battle Mountain in 1969. There she attended school and was a member of the Battle Mountain High School class of 1978. Lori married Donald Haynes of California in 1979 and they had two children, Jeremy and Lynnette. They later divorced in 1988. In 2004, Lori married Dale Taliaferro of Winnemucca. Dale is employed at Nevada Gold Mines. Her death came a week before they were able to celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary. During her work years, Lori was employed at Hunnewill Construction and at Marigold Mine, working mostly as a haul truck driver for 13 years. She eventually became disabled due to back problems as well as developing diabetes, which brings about it's own problems and issues. Lori enjoyed working in her yard and spending time outdoors as well as playing a few slot machines, but her main loves were her family and her dogs. More spoiled dogs just don't exist on this planet. She was a loving and giving mother and was very close to her children. Lori had a huge heart and gave so much to so many. She also was the embodiment of strength. She endured a great deal in her time on Earth, yet never gave up. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Lori is preceded in death by her father Daniel Leshikar Sr., sister Karen Cathey and nephew Mark Leshikar. She is survived by her husband Dale, children Jeremy (Rachael) Haynes and Lynnette (Joe) Ellis, all of Winnemucca, sisters Danna (Lynn) Sadler of Utah, Kathy Appledorn of Indiana, and Shelley Gavino of Arizona, brothers Danny (Sandi) Leshikar of Texas and Brad (Donna) Fosteson of Indiana, and grandchildren Tristin Clark of Winnemucca, J.W. Haynes of Idaho, and Daniel and Adelyn Haynes of Winnemucca. We hope you're dancing in Heaven, Lori, flying high with the angels and spending time with both loved family members and beloved dogs who have gone before. Until we meet on God's celestial shores, you will be forever missed. Funeral services will not be held at Lori's request.
