Bio
She was born to Robert L. Burrus and Willie Bell Worthen Burrus. She had a 35 year career in teaching, mostly in the Houston Independent School District at Bonner and Pleasantville Elementary Schools. Mrs. Porter spent the last ten years of her teaching career as a remedial reading teacher. She was member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and a long time member of Christ United Medthodist Church. She is predeceased by her infant son John Robert Porter, son Paul William Porter Jr. and exhusband Paul William Porter Sr. Survivors are daughter Elizabeth Jane Porter, grandchildren James Lawrence Porter and Cary Martin Porter, and daughter-n-law Susan Villman Porter.
