Bio

Jerry Dale Nunneley, 85, of Saint Jo, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 after a hard fought battle with congestive heart failure. Jerry passed away in his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 5, 1930, in Olney, Texas to Earl and Gladys (Fanning) Nunneley. He married Raenell Kitchens January 14, 1955 in Nocona, Texas and they were blessed with three wonderful children: Carol Jean, Mark, and Roger. Jerry was very proud of his children and their accomplishments in life. He may not have bragged to them but he often bragged about them. Jerry was a big, strong and proud man; cantankerous at times. If he had an opinion, which he usually did, you were going to hear it whether you wanted to or not. He wasn't the type to wear his heart on his sleeve and never showed public displays of affection but his family knew they were loved. Jerry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Raenell; daughter, Carol Jean Fitts and husband, Danny of Nocona; son, Mark Nunneley and wife, Katie of Dallas; and son, Roger Nunneley and wife, Annie of Nocona; one grandson, Jon Nunneley and wife, Natalie of Saint Jo and five granddaughters, Kara Fitts of McKinney; Jennifer Trevino and husband, Erik of Denton; Katie Nunneley and fiancé, David Shorter of Mineral Wells; Gracie Nunneley of Dallas; and Maddie Nunneley of Dallas; seven great-grandchildren, Max, Zach, Ethan, and Charly Sue Nunneley and Judah, Eliza, and Clara Trevino; sister-in-law, Mildred Nunneley; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harvey and Charlene Kitchens of Wichita Falls. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Earl Nunneley; and granddaughter, Kimberley Nunneley. A graveside service at Starkey Cemetery was officiated by Mr. Virgel Trout, Dr. Rusty West, and Kenneth Cash, on Tuesday, March 29th at 10 a.m. Pallbearers: Jon Nunneley, Erik Trevino, Danny Fitts, Doug Gaston, Danny Howard and Todd Kitchens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Starkey Cemetery or to the American Leukemia Society.
