Walter Ray Rogers MAY 5, 1936 – JUNE 24, 2023 Obituary of Walter Ray Rogers IN THE CARE OF Roselawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens Walter Ray Rogers, age 87, passed away on June 24, 2023 in Van Alstyne, Texas. He was born on May 5, 1936 in Kaufman county, Texas to Thomas A. Rogers and Mary E. Klutts Rogers. He married Bernice Grimes Rogers in 1964 and the couple had two children. He was a city maintenance worker at City of Cockrell Hill where he worked for more than 24 years. In his spare time, Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sitting on the front porch drinking his black coffee and talking to the animals his grandson brought to their home in Wainwright, Texas. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, 8 siblings, wife, and granddaughter Tiffany. Walter is survived by his daughter Shelly Ray Alvey (Rogers), son Jerald Grimes, and grandchildren Timothy Rogers, Adrian Grimes, Ashley Beatty (Grimes), Brittany Moses (Grimes), and Christopher Grimes.
